 Experience Matters

Our attorneys have over 50 years of combined experience counseling clients in all areas of intellectual property law transactions and business disputes, including serving as lead counsel in lawsuits involving patents, trademarks, copyrights, unfair competition, deceptive trade practices, false advertising, internet domain name registrations, internet defamation and disclosure of trade secrets. We have represented clients in lawsuits and business negotiations involving "works of authorship" such as software, music, jewelry, fiction and nonfiction texts, videos, photographs, and sculptures.

We have also assisted clients with the protection and enforcement of a number of processes and devices, ranging from consumer products, business methods, construction devices, explosives detection, boatlifts, and exercise equipment to "mad cow disease" detection devices, to name just a few.  In addition to infringement cases, we have handled a wide variety of business disputes, including allegations of theft of trade secrets such as customer lists and technical know-how, breach of non-compete agreements, unfair competition, fraudulent business practices, disputes involving license agreements, and breach of contract.

Our experience and knowledge allow us to effectively and efficiently represent our clients, from preparing and responding to cease and desist letters all the way through trial and appeal in all Florida state and federal courts.  Our attorneys have served both as arbitrators and as advocates in front of arbitration panels.  We have successfully resolved numerous matters prior to either party filing a lawsuit, saving substantial amounts in legal fees and costs.   We also assist our clients by negotiating licensing agreements and assignments covering all forms of intellectual property, as well as drafting a wide variety of agreements and contracts.

Our attorneys are active in local, state, and federal bar associations, having contributed to publications and being invited to present continuing legal education courses to other intellectual property attorneys. One of our attorneys has served as both the local and state Bars' Intellectual Property Sections, and has served on a bar subcommittee to prepare and propose formalized case management rules for patent cases in the District Courts of Florida. He also currently serves as the Florida Bar Business Law Section's Executive Committee.

We regularly contribute articles to local, statewide and national legal publications on intellectual property developments, and have been quoted by the press discussing news-worthy developments in Intellectual Property.
